Yellowstone 2016

Yellowstone 2016

Yesterday was a very long day. We got up early to go look for wildlife, only to later find out the best place was on the opposite side of the park. Yellowstone is huge! We saw all of the geysers, we drove up just as Old Faithful was erupting. I took a couple of shots out the window.

The North entrance to the park is in Montana. We drove up there to check out that road and we couldn't be that close to a new state and not go a little further. We drove a little ways and saw signs to Quake Lake and decided to drive to it. I'm glad that we did. It has a sad history but the scenery is beautiful. After we went up to the peak of that park we went back to the town of West Yellowstone to get some hot food.
We made it over to the part of the park where the wildlife is supposed to be more visible about an hour before sunset. We did see bison, prong horn, a bald eagle, 2 Ospreys, a coyote (making that 6 that we have seen), a few elk, a marmot, chipmunks and one very healthy black bear, still no grizzly.

We started to head back toward our campground and found that the two best routes were closed. So it took us 2 hours to get back to camp. We got in at 11:15 and it takes us about 30 minutes or so to get set up so we got to bed late. Just as we were settling in it started to snow.

We saw a lot of beautiful country yesterday and will see more today. I have a ton of pictures to edit and as soon as I get a chance I will get some edited and will do a long blog post with them. If you ever get the chance to come over this way DO IT! The landscape is breathtaking!

The following pictures were taken on my iPhone. I haven't had much service so these are all I can get to to post right now.
